Welcome to the outline of our 2010 programme

News...News...News...
Lavistown House is 200 years old this year. As well as a past, it now has a
future because the next generation have decided to take on running courses
in the coming years. Our daughter Claire and her partner Des Doyle want to
continue the tradition of the last thirty years in bringing people together
to learn and to have fun doing it. The Centre needed to be pushed gently
into the 21st century and we are obviously delighted for these people to do
the pushing.

So this is a year of transition, with Des teaching some of the courses and
plans being laid for the new look - and building. Next year Roger and I will
continue to do some of the teaching and cooking while Claire and Des will do
all of the rest.

We hope people who have been coming for years will approve of the changes
and also that newcomers will find something in this programme to their
liking. The courses offer some new subjects as well as several old
favourites.

Lavistown is a Georgian house surrounded by trees and gardens where you can
wander freely while you are here. There is a walled vegetable garden and a
small farm with Kerry cows, sheep, pigs and poultry. Most of the delicious
food served on our courses is produced here and when the weather is good we
eat outside in the courtyard beside the workshop. We do the cooking but
everyone does the washing up.

The weekend courses run from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon. The day
courses last from 10am to 5pm and are usually on Saturday. They cater for
about 15 people and are always informal and enjoyable. The price of each
course covers your accommodation, food and tuition.
If you prefer not to stay with us while attending a two day course please
indicate this on the booking form and we can send you details of local
places to stay. There is a reduction of €10 per night in this case.
